Yesterday at The Journey, we talked about the Christmas project we are doing in Kenya. In the past we bought bunk beds, a dairy cow, a rain tank, and chickens. This year we will build another classroom at the school at the House of Hope Orphanage. Why a classroom? Because education is so important to the future of Kenya. One of the causes of poverty has been poor education. So we want to help them provide a great education for these kids so when they become adults, they can contribute back to society and their country. This could help in the long-term development of Kenya. When people are educated they make better decisions, lead and teach others, and learn how to earn a living. They will be taught reading, math, and science. But when they get older they also learn some job trades. They will learn how to grow crops, raise livestock, run a business, and various skills. We are giving them more than a hand out. We are giving them tools for life. Here are some orphans with their teachers:
